Hotel Accommodation

If you are joining us from outside the Calgary area, we have arranged for a special hotel rate at Hotel Alma, right on campus (across the street from the conference venue). If you prefer, two-bedroom residence apartments on campus (just a little further away) are also available for booking at a special rate.

Room Type Single or Double Occupancy per night
Eurostyle Standard $129 + 12.27% tax
One Bedroom Suite $189 + 12.27% tax
Seasonal Residence at Alma
(Two Bedroom Student Apartment)
$115 + 12.27% tax

Parking is an extra $10 per day per vehicle. Internet access is included. Eurostyle rooms and Suites include a continental breakfast and access to University of Calgary fitness facilities.

To book, contact Hotel Alma directly (1-877-498-3203, 403-220-3203, and refer to the group name "Open Block MacDeployment Conference" to receive this rate. Bookings are based on availability. A major credit card must be provided to guarantee the reservation. This credit card will only be used for one night’s room and tax should the guest cancel less than 48 hours prior to arrival or fail to arrive for the reservation.

There are also numerous hotels within 2 km of campus that you can choose from. If you do not choose to park on campus (see below), you may want to inquire if your chosen hotel has a shuttle service, as the walk to the conference venue could take 20-30 minutes.

On-site Parking and Transit

The Art Parkade on the south side of campus (entrance off of 24 Ave. NW just west of University Drive, see map from Apple or Google) is your best bet for parking. Cost is $10 per entry, but there is no time limit for your stay that day.

The campus is well-served by Calgary Transit as well. The main loop at the south end of campus is very close to our venues and is served by a number of bus routes. The University LRT station is just a few minutes further away. Adult cash fare is $3.25.

Inter-city Bus

Calgary is served by both Greyhound and Red Arrow motor coach services. You can take Calgary Transit from these companies' respective downtown stations to get to the University of Calgary as well as your hotel accommodations.

Air Travel and Related Ground Transportation

If you fly to Calgary, it is about a $35 cab ride from the terminal to the University campus. Unfortunately, there are no shared van services that can take you to campus for a cheaper fee. If you have a Car2Go membership, there are dedicated spots both at the Airport and on campus in the Art Parkade. The ride-sharing services operating in Calgary are the Alberta-based TappCar and Uber. Calgary Transit does serve the airport with a limited stop bus, but you would need to transfer to another bus or train to get to campus. Cash fare is $10.00 from the airport (transfer included).
