Survey Says…

As we prepare for our 2021 Virtual Conference, we are considering three different possibilities for how we will schedule it:

  1. Single day conference, similar to how it would operate in person;
  2. Weekly sessions (likely in May) for a few weeks, 2-3 hours per week;
  3. Three 3-hour blocks spread over 2 days (e.g., Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning, Tuesday evening), to lessen Zoom fatigue and to accommodate timezones worldwide.

Which of these would work for you? If you are thinking of attending this year’s conference, we’d like you to complete this survey on or before February 22:

[The survey is now closed. Thanks for all your responses.]

You can also make other suggestions. We’ll take your feedback and come up with a path forward.

Meetup Jan. 21

To be or not to be? That is the question we will be asking about the 2021 MacDeployment Conference when we next meet on Thursday, January 21 at 6:30 p.m. (UTC -7 for those following along outside of Alberta). Whether you’ve attended the conference in the past or have been a supporter, you are welcome to join us to discuss whether our next gathering should be in person or virtual, this year or next. We are also looking for people interested in joining the committee that operates the Conference.

Information on how to join our virtual gathering are posted to the #macdeploy channel of the MacAdmins Slack.

Welcome to our New Site

As a part of an internal system migration at the University of Calgary, we needed to transition to a new platform (WordPress), so we took that opportunity to give the site a bit of a refresh. It also allowed us to rethink the priorities of this site, which had previously been Conference-centric. Now that meetups are an important part of our identity, we have added this blog section to make it easier to keep you up to date on our ongoing activities.

We still have all the resources from past conferences posted for your reference. We look forward to meeting with all of you again soon, whether virtually or in person.

September 2020 Meetup

We were thrilled to have Marcus Ransom join our meetup all the way from Melbourne, Australia to chat about the upcoming EveryWorld Conference (a COVID-inspired combination of three different Apple-centric conferences in Australia/New Zealand) and his session at the 2020 Jamf Nation User Conference.

As well, there was the usual level of social discourse and Roy Miguens was nice enough to give us an impromptu demo of the SimpleMDM beta featuring Munki integration. We had attendees from Calgary and Edmonton (as well as Melbourne).

Looking forward to seeing you at our next meetup!
